Breakfast & Lunch Menus Minimize

School menus have a new format and new choices!

In an effort to increase efficiency and go green, printed monthly menus are no longer necessary.  A menu cycle is now determined at the beginning of each school year and used for the entire year.  Each menu contains a four-week cycle of menu items and a listing of which weeks these menu items will be served. This can be printed at the beginning of the school year and used all year. Each cycle corresponds with a week’s worth of daily menu items.

A school breakfast includes 3-4 meal components below and a lunch includes 3-5 of these meal components.  Keep in mind that an entrée choice is often a combination of meat, grain and vegetable items.

Meat or Meat Alternate (1)

Grain (1)

Fruit/Vegetable (2)

Milk (1)

Offer vs. Serve is used in our cafeterias, meaning that students can choose to not take up to two of the meal components listed above. This is meant to decrease waste and increase choice for students.
